2020 Westport Fair: Canceled Due to Covid-19

The 2020 Westport Fair:

From: The Westport Fair Committee
To: All our faithful volunteers and patrons
With great sadness the Executive Board of the Westport Fair voted last night to cancel our annual Fair due to the Covid-19 pandemic raging through our great nation.
It is doubtful from all our gathered guidance that several thousand people would be allowed to gather and celebrate our Agricultural Heritage in July. It appears even sporting events in the fall will be held in empty stadiums.
The Executive Board held off as long as possible but time is short in the planning as it is necessary to notify our vendors, police and security details, carnival people, tractor and truck pulling club, 4- h groups, exhibitors etc. so that they too can plan.
We will say this to you all, come July remember all the good times that have happened on the Fair Grounds and smile but more importantly remember how much sweeter next year and the comings will be after missing just this one year.
Be safe and more importantly be strong and we will persevere through this tragedy as this nation has done through many past generations of hard-working country folk.

If you take pictures at the fair this year and tag them with  #WestportFair2021  when you share them on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter there is a good chance that they will appear on the picture board next year.  We'll use as many as we can!

Lees Community Partnership

The Westport Fair Committee continues to participate in the Lees Community Partnership program sponsored by Lees Supermarket. Based on every purchase you make, the fair will receive one percent of the total sales receipts submitted to Lees Supermarket. The proceeds are applied to the fair’s Scholarship Fund. It is very much appreciated for the collection of slips we have received to date and hope others will join in doing the same for us in the future. We would also like to thank Lees Supermarket for reinvesting in our community.

Gram Potter’s responsibility is being passed on to her granddaughter Kerry. Please continue to save your register receipts in Gram’s memory. You may give them to any fair member, or send to the Westport Fair, c/o Kerry Teixeira, P.O. Box 3455, Westport, MA 02790. There is also a Lees receipt drop off box in the craft building during the fair. THANK YOU!
